Ohayogozaimasu readers! Welcome back to Meido News Report! Sorry for the two-week break, I promise I will go back to the swing of things! The pandemic is still putting a burden on things, but lots of interesting things happened during the last part of April! Cherry Blossom season and spring may be dwindling down, but Maid Cafés are starting to prepare for summer! I know I’m ready to go to the pool (and by pool, I mean bathtub!)
[Anniversaries]
Last year, many Maid Cafes have popped-up and they are celebrating their 1st year anniversary! I’m going to go back a bit and celebrate Pixel Pop Maid Café’s first year! Their anniversary date is New Year’s Day, how cool is that? It has been a busy excited year for the 8-bit maids! Let’s see what they had to say:

Pixel Pop Maid Café is a gaming-themed, traveling and event-based Maid Café. They focus on gaming and playing games with their goshujin-samas! Pixel Pop Maid Café’s goal is to have fun gaming adventures with their heroes! Some maids first debuted at MAGFEST 2019 and hosted fun activities during Katsucon 2019 and DC Sakura Matsuri 2019. They fully debuted at Escape Velocity 2019, performing in the Fashion Show and hosting gaming panels, and then followed by their first maid café event at GEXCON 2019. There is currently no word on any future events or appearances.
In March Animaru Maid Café celebrated their first year too! They held an Anniversary Live Stream on April 19th! They introduced their newest members, did a Q&A, and did a giveaway with 2 big prizes! Head Maid Tora posted a little thank you post:
“Hello everyone! Maid Tora here. I am so proud of how far our group has come in just one year. To be honest, I was really nervous about starting a maid café. The biggest reason for my jitters was the uncertainty of how our group would be received within the community. I was pleasantly surprised to find that we were welcomed with open arms! I am so thankful for my amazing staff members, both past and present! Animaru wouldn’t be what it is today without every single one of you. I also want to thank Greg and Bernard of Monkey Paw Entertainment for giving me the opportunity to start this group in the first place, as well as encouraging me to continually follow my dreams! Of course, I want to thank the other maid café groups that have sent us so much love and even collaborated with us! You are all so kind and amazing. Animaru Maid Café is an animal-themed, Itty-Bitty Fur Con and Arizona Fur Con exclusive Maid and Butler Café. Each Maid and Butler is themed after an endangered animal, much like Tokyo Mew Mew. Animaru’s goal is to help raise awareness and money for wildlife preservation and various wildlife charities. Their first event was Itty Bitty Fur Con 2019, with Heritage Park Zoo as their charity of choice, they raised $20 from all tips and Polaroid sales. The head maids are Maid Tora the Sumatran Tiger and Maid Aqua the Vaquita. There is currently no word on any future events or appearances. Super cute~!

…And now to the sad sappy part, farewells and graduations. Sadly, a maid cannot stay a maid forever, or in this case a butler cannot stay a butler forever.
Butler Niklas graduated from Sweet Tooth Maid Café. He had to return to his country as he is the next heir to the throne. He was known as the “Angel Food Cake Prince”.
Today is a sad day at the Sweet Tooth Mansion. Our sweet Butler Niklas is finally fit to be a King and with be heading back to rule his country! We will all miss him dearly and wish the best for him! [Support your favorite and local Cafes!]
One last thing before I properly close, we all know Maid Cafes miss all their goshujin-samas and ojou-samas during these rough times. Make sure you give them all their love and support while they are stuck inside of their mansions! You may think it may be hard to do, but there are sooo many was to support them. Here are a few to help you:
- This one is the simplest things you can do, comment and like their pictures and posts! This will let them know you care and support them. They love it when you say some nice encouraging words! Follow them on all social media platforms! Don’t just follow their main café page, follow your favorite maids and butlers too! Some Maid Cafes post kawaii dance covers and promo videos on their YouTubes!
- Chat with your favorite Maid Café friends on their Maid Cafe discord! If they have a discord, make sure to find or ask for the invite link. This way you can still interact with your favorite Maids!
- Watch their Live Stream events! If a virtual con is hosting them or they are live on Twitch, go watch them! Make sure you watch as long as you can!
- If they have a giveaway, join it! Follow the instructions to get your entries! The more you share, comment or tag, the more chances for you to win! If you do win, show it off by posting and tagging the Maid Cafe! If you don’t win, don’t be too discouraged, you still supported and spread the word about them!
- If you have extra funds, support them on Patreon or Ko-Fi. If they have a store online buy their merchandise! It will help with any costs and make future experiences better! You will also get cool stuff depending on the tier! You could show it off by posting and tagging them! Of course, only do this if you can!
- Lastly, when cons and events do open back up, make sure to see them and support them! Go to their café events, buy from their booth in the Artist Alley, go to their panels, and cheer them on! Give them positive reviews so they can go to the event next year! Suggest them at your favorite cons! Cons are either preparing for the Fall or for the 2021 season. You can still get your favorite Maid Café at cons. Tell your favorite Maid Café where they should go next in the fall or 2021!
